I will be the first to tell you that I struggle with confidence. A lot. Or more or less accepting myself for the person I am. I'm not sure why, but certain aspects of myself I just want to remain hidden (Just in case you were wondering, I am well adjusted haha). And that lack of confidence and self esteem has gotten me into a lot of trouble in the past; things could have been prevented if I had the strength just to say no in certain situations. This summer, I picked up Miranda Kerr's Treasure Yourself. I was expecting it to be kind of flighty, I mean, its Miranda Kerr what does she know about low self-confidence? Turns out a lot, this book was beautifully written without any hint of vanity (which I was also expecting). It teaches girls and women to think positively. For instance, If you have a bad thought or a judgmental thought think aloud in your head "I RELEASE ALL BAD THOUGHTS!" over and over until it goes away. It may seem kind of childish, but after having tried it, I can honestly say that it works! Kerr also makes a point that every girl/woman is a flower and that we are each beautiful in our own unique ways (a rose and a violet are not the same but they are both equally beautiful)...so why the competition? We should love our neighbors as sisters and we should help build one another's confidence instead of tearing it down (self esteem is hard to build up and so easy to tear down). So I can honestly say, that I respect Miranda Kerr not just for her supermodel status, but also because she uses that status to help promote confidence to so many people.
